Known as ”the town’s nearest archipelago” it is perfect for a day trip, just twenty-five minutes by boat from Stockholm. There are museums, a beautiful garden, an aquarium, an ice-cream parlour and restaurants. Fjäderholmarna’s pub is highly recommended.

Whisky tasting – Mackmyra – Swedish Whisky
Mackmyra’s distillery is near Gävle about one and a half hours drive north of Stockholm but their archipelago warehouse and an exhibition are on Fjäderholmarna in a concealed cavern which was used earlier by the Swedish defence forces. Here you can sense the fragrance of the ”angels’ share” which evaporates slowly from the whisky maturing in the casks.
In the archipelago warehouse you get an exciting insight into whisky production and the maturing process together with tasting samples of Mackmyra Reserve during a tour with an experienced and inspiring guide.

During the season boats leave daily from Nybrokajen or Skeppsbron and the trip takes just twenty-five minutes each way.
