Sandhamn is probably best known for its bathing areas and as an international sailing centre but it also boasts beautiful cultural features and unique natural aspects.
Child-friendly beaches are within walking distance an all sides of the Island. The biggest and perhaps the best is Trouville with its long stretch of white sand.
The harbour is in full swing during the summer. Many races and regattas are run from Sandhamn including the ‘Round Gotland’.
‘The village itself’ as the area round the harbour is known has buildings of great cultural interest. You can wander along the winding alleys between a mixture of very old cottages for customs men and pilots and summerhouses built at the end of the 19th century. In the summer you can choose from three restaurants, a café and a pub. In the winter Sandhamns Wärdshus restaurant serves lunch and dinner at the week-ends.
