One of Sweden’s most remarkable and best preserved castles from Sweden’s era of power. It was built by Axel Oxenstierna. Take a guided tour of the Knights’ Hall and State Apartment. The very popular toy museum has thousands of objects on display and the inn serves well-prepared meals and homemade cakes in an old-fashioned setting with views over the deer park and meadows.

Directions: Take E18 towards Oslo and then take the exit marked Erikslund/Hamnen Ludvika Fagersta. Get in the left lane, following the signs to Hamnen. After crossing the railway bridge take the second turning to the right. The road sign shows Tidö slott/Rytterne. Drive about10 km, then turn left at the sign marked Tidö slott 3 km.
