Trekking
To experience nature from the back of a horse is a spiritual pleasure. The motion and the environment are a potent combination. There are many places and many types of horse to choose from. Here we show some places that specialise in Icelandic horses which are extremely pleasant and comfortable to ride with their unique 'tölt' gait.

Competitions - show jumping
Every year in June two major events are held at Österängen in the grounds of Strömsholms Castle; they draw world-class national and international participants and attract large audiences. The competitions at Strömsholm include jumping, dressage and cross-country events.

The Grand National is a form of steeplechase - the Grand Prix for horses. There is a speculative and party atmosphere with many picnic baskets on the grass under the old oak trees. You can gamble and put money on your favourite.

Trotting
Trotting races are held at the Sundbyholm track nearly every Tuesday. This is about 40 minutes by car from Stockholm-Västerås airport.
